Strategic Thinking

• Provided advice to Scottish Enterprise on
the creation of a Life Science Technology Institute in Scotland.

• Part of team advising the Louisiana Recovery Authority
and Board of Regents on research/commercialization capabilities
at the state’s academic institutions and the design of a new
statewide system to boost the research
and commercialization capabilities
of Louisiana’s universities.

• Advised the NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership
on ways to create an Innovation Services program
for it’s national system of MEP Centers.

• Developed plan for the Montana Governor’s office
on how to enhance the growth of its technology based economy.

 Research & Analysis

• Undertaken a number of industry cluster studies and
workforce development strategies for organizations throughout the US

• Completed a major study for the National Institute for Standards
and Technology on how small manufacturers can compete
more effectively with China and other low cost countries.

• Analyzed the role of advanced manufacturing technology
in industries impacted by import competition,
for the Office of Trade Adjustment Assistance.

• Conducted an analysis and directory
of Montana’s emerging technology based industries
for the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

Program Design/Developement

• Established a successful $7 million equity seed fund
for rural areas of Minnesota.

• Developed nationally recognized technology extension/technology
transfer programs for Pennsylvania and Minnesota.

• Created the BioScience Alliance in Montana to support the growth
of the life sciences cluster in that state.

• Designed and implemented a national seminar series to help
small manufacturers understand how to compete with low cost countries.
